Ghent Smaakt accessible with kids? Absolutely!

Kids entertainment

For 4 days, the Goudenleeuwplein will be transformed into a family-friendly "Dragon Square" where we take into account the wishes and needs of little gourmets. A dragon of sous-chef euhm... sous-chef of Ghent's culinary Draakje (oops!) subjects young and not-so-young to various playful challenges. Cachalot, bubble bite or serving tray toss... You might just discover new gastronomic talents.

Moreover, sitting still at the table becomes a lot easier with Dragon's riddles and games. And if you want to exchange this sitting down for a more dynamic activity, you can search for Dragon's favourite dish and maybe even win a prize!

Young mums can also find their own corner for breastfeeding.

After the great success of last year, we are organising a Kids' Restaurant again!
Do you have a little chef in your house and does your child dream of cooking for family and friends or serving food just like in an authentic restaurant? Then this is possible during Gent Smaakt, a culinary family event in the heart of Ghent. Everyone between 9 and 14 can register and indicate which task their child would most like to do that day (kitchen/ bar & service).

Then invite family and friends to come and eat at the Kids' Restaurant that day.

We have a maximum capacity for 30 children and 100 guests daily (max. 6 people per child).  Children pay €2 for this workshop. Their guests pay €30 per adult and €20 for children up to 9 years old.

At the restaurant, we will serve a 3-course menu with matching drinks (Mocktail, choice of 2 starters (fish - plant-based), choice of 2 main courses (meat - plant-based), dessert, water at the table). The children's jury is currently deliberating on the recipes of the participating chefs.

Timing participating children: 11h45-16h00
Timing family & guests: reception at 2 pm - end at 4 pm

Registration is possible until April 30th. After receiving your registration, you can expect an e-mail with practical info at the end of April and will be able to submit your menu choice.

Location: under the City Hall

The Kids’ Restaurant is a concept of Gent Smaakt in cooperation with Hotelschool Gent and is possible thanks to the help of Quorn and Vanier.
