Payment
Are there tokens for sale?

We have chosen not to provide tokens anymore.

How do I pay on the local market?

Here you can pay by card or cash. 

Are there deposits on the glasses?

Every glass has a deposit of two euro. These two euro you can get back when returning your glass to one of the three deposit points on site. 

How do I pay on Gent Smaakt?

No more standing in line to place your order!  Scan the QR code of the exhibitor with your smartphone and order online. You can find the QR code on the menu boards or tables. The exhibitor will immediately start working on your order and will call your name when it is ready. The easiest way to pay is with the Payconiq by Bancontact app. Install it before you come to Gent Smaakt! 

Not familiar with digital ordering and paying? 
Alternatively, you can pick up a reload card at our info points with cash or pay by card.

Accessibility
Is the event accessible for disabled people?

Gent Smaakt is a festival where everyone is welcome, so this year we want to deploy extra on accessibility. We will take several measures like lowered bar, easy passes, digital menu, … 

Around the pedestrian zone, but also close to the city center there are multiple, free parking zones for people with a disability. We are doing everything for you to also have a pleasant time. If you have more questions, you can always mail to info@gentsmaakt.be.

Are there possible seating options?

Yes! On every square there will be standing and sitting furniture. 

Are the sanitary facilities also accessible for the disabled?

Gent Smaak is accessible for wheelchair-users. Visitors can use the public sanitary facilities under the Stadshal (also accessible by lift) and in the Belfort. In addition, there will also be a toilet trolley that is also wheelchair accessible and gender neutral.

Do I need to buy tickets in advance?

No! Gent Smaakt is accessible for free!

  • Thursday: 11 am to midnight

  • Saturday: 12 pm to midnight

Are children welcome?

Together with Stad Gent we find child-friendliness within the hospitality sector very important. During Gent Smaakt there is a wide range of children animation (on Drakenplein= Goudenleeuwplein), and healthy, child friendly dishes. But the icing on the cake is a restaurant especially for children. Kids from 9 to 14 years can experience how it is to run a restaurant. 

How expensive is it?

Gent Smaakt is very accessible. There is no entrance fee, so you will only pay for the things you really want to eat and drink. 

Can I still come visit when it is raining?

Sure! Stadshal is a big covered terrace, so we can handle every weather situation. 

How long does Gent Smaakt take place? What are the opening hours?

Gent Smaakt takes place from 17 to 21 May 2023.

Opening hours of the restaurants and food trucks: 

  • Wednesday: 5 pm to midnight

Who are the participating exhibitors?

You find all of them on the website, page “exhibitors”.

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are most certainly allowed! We only ask to keep them on a leash.

Are own consumptions allowed?

No! consumption from outside of Gent Smaakt are not allowed. We offer a wide range of all kinds of food, so there will for sure be something you like! 

Are there sanitary facilities?

You can use the public sanitary facilities under the Stadshal (to the left of the Belfort café) and in the Belfort free of charge.

Is there a place provided for baby care?

There is a baby care table and breastfeeding corner provided next to the bar on the Goudenleeuwplein. 

How do I order on Gent Smaakt?

There are three options for payment at Gent Smaakt. You can choose to scan the QR codes on the tables or directly at the exhibitor to order. After placing your order, you will be redirected to the Payconiq by Bancontact app and you can make mobile payments. So you no longer have to queue to order!

For people who are not familiar with digital ordering / payment, we still provide the option to pay electronically at every exhibitor, and we also provide a cash register where you can top up a budget on a top-up card using cash money.

Meals
Can I check the meals of the exhibitors in advance?

Sure, you can! Here you can find every meal the exhibitor will prepare. You can also search the type of food, like ‘Asian’, ‘vegetarian’, …, with the search bar. 

Are allergies taken into account?

Every exhibitor is up to date with the possible allergies included in their dishes and will happily help you if needed. 

Does the festival offer alcohol-free alternatives?

Yes! As well as at the bar or with the exhibitors there will be multiple alcohol-free drinks and mocktails.

Will there be vegetarian or vegan dishes?

Ghent has been the veggie capital of Europe for years, so we want vegetarian and vegan to be reflected in the story of Gent Smaak. At Gent Smaakt, our chefs guarantee about 10 vegetarian dishes, so a wide range. Something to everybody's liking! 

In collaboration with BEVegan there will be a competition for the best vegan dish. So be sure to participate and let your favorite dish win!

Workshops
Do I need to register for the workshops?

It is recommended, this way you are sure about your spot. If a workshop is still not filled on the moment of the event, you can of course still take part. 

Will there be workshops?

Yes, information sessions and workshops are organised every afternoon. These will happen under the Stadshal. An overview in detail can be found under Events.

B2B
Can I organise a teambuilding on Gent Smaakt?

You sure can! No better way to get to know your colleagues better over dinner or lunch. There are different possibilities and price ranges. For more information you can mail info@gentsmaakt.be. 

Is it possible to receive a VAT receipt?

If the payment was done by card, you can ask the ticket from the exhibitor. If the payment was done by mobile, you will need to send a copy of payment within a week to info@gentsmaakt.be. This will need to include the name of the company and VAT number, as well as a screenshot of the payment(s).

What are the differences between all the squares?

The Korenmarkt will be transformed into a street food festival. The world in the palm of your hand, a cross-pollination between our Ghent culinary heritage and specialties from the four corners of the world. 

At Klein Turkije and the Local street food can be found on the Goudenleeuwplein,  you can find local products and local street food, and as well as a bar with more than 10 Ghent/local drinks.

Chef's Island will be located on the central site at the Stadshal and there will be room for young chefs and experienced restaurateurs at the Poeljemarkt.

What can you do at Drakenpleintje?

Continuous fun with riddles and games, take part in the culinary quest and have a chance to win great prizes.

Between 2 and 6 pm, Gaston Dragon entertains young and less young with playful tests. At 6 pm we close with a spectacle moment.
